Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. It actually accounts for more than 90% of all cases of diabetes. With this disease the body does not make or properly use insulin, a hormone that helps convert sugar, starches and other foods into energy. Eventually a person’s body will stop producing insulin if they have this disease. Unfortunately, it is not yet known why this happens. However, genetics and environmental factors do play a role. This is why it is important to have a self-management plan in order to fight this disease.

Taking Classes On Type 2 Diabetes

There are classes available though that provide information about type 2 diabetes and teach the skills that are necessary for avoiding the numerous complications of this disease. These classes teach the patient how to monitor glucose, modify their diets, develop exercise regimens, self-inject insulin and many other necessary things.

Daily Management Of Type 2 Diabetes

Daily insulin injections can be the most difficult part of type 2 diabetes self-management for some people. A good alternative for this is a medical device that is known as an insulin pump. This is a small, battery operated pump that is worn on the waist and has a reservoir that contains insulin, which is automatically injected into the body by way of a catheter that is embedded under the skin. The pump is easily detached and adjusted.

About 90% of people who have type 2 diabetes are overweight. Therefore, exercise and keeping weight under control are vital. Of course, it is also important to keep blood glucose under control in order to prevent the other health related problems that are often related to type 2 diabetes.

Food intake must also be moderated. This does not mean that a person with the disease cannot continue to eat their favorite foods. They can do so as long as their portions are controlled. Of course, the person also needs to eat foods that are high in nutrition with lots of vegetables and fruit. For this reason you will find that many programs have dietitians on staff to help patients develop a plan that works for them.

Exercise is also an important way of helping to control type 2 diabetes. Even light exercise such as gardening and walking are beneficial to keeping a person’s blood sugar under control. This will also benefit your cholesterol levels, blood pressure and cardiovascular health.

Developing diabetes has helped some people become healthier. This is because by sticking to their self-management plan they are no longer obese, they are also able to enjoy the many health benefits that go along with exercise and healthy eating.

Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body is unable to produce enough insulin to break down glucose in the blood. That is why people with type 2 diabetes take insulin shots, to help raise their insulin level and break down the glucose. But there are ways to structure your type 2 diabetes diet that can help you manage your diabetes better and even potentially reduce the effects of the diabetes. The first way you can help yourself is to simply lose weight and get more exercise. Type 2 diabetes thrives in larger inactive people. So reducing your mass and increasing your blood flow and help reduce the effects of the type 2 diabetes. But here are some things you can do in a type 2 diabetes diet that can also help reduce the effects of your diabetes.

Watch Your Carbohydrates

Simple carbohydrates are really bad to have in a type 2 diabetes diet. Refined sugars and sweets are dangerous and can cause a dangerous rise in the glucose level in your blood. What you want to do is increase your intake of complex carbohydrates and fibers to help reduce the need for your system to produce insulin as quick as it would need to with simple carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates such as fruits and vegetables are ideal for a type 2 diabetes diet because they are broken down slowly by your system and even a person with diabetes will have an easier time digesting complex carbohydrates because the insulin demand on the system is lower. So eat your fruits and vegetables and make sure you also get fiber into your type 2 diabetes diet.

Proteins And Fats

In a type 2 diabetes diet you want anywhere from 10% to 20% of your daily intake of calories to have protein in it. Protein is an essential part of any diet but people on a type 2 diabetes diet especially want to make sure that they are getting their share of protein. Avoid doing much more that 20% as that can potentially lead to problems.

Try and keep your fat intake to less than 30% of your daily calorie count and try to eat as little saturated fats as possible. It is ideal to try and keep your saturated fat intake each day to a level below 10% of your calorie intake. You want to try and make your diet as lean as possible and avoid adding any more fats or carbohydrates to your diet. It is advisable that you consume at least 20 grams of fiber every day.

The diets of professional body builders and guys and gals who just want to develop a ripped body so they can look good on the beach are or should be very similar. There’s a common myth out there that says you can “convert fat into muscle.” That’s simply not true. You can’t “convert” fat into muscle any more than you can “convert” a chunk of coal into a diamond. The human body simply doesn’t work that way.

It IS true that muscle weighs MORE than fat. You can pretty easily see why. Fat is “fluffy,” while muscle is hard and firm. A pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of iron, but you need a great deal less iron to make a pound.

Forcing the body to create muscle is a process. The body doesn’t just decide to make more muscle. The body must be convinced that more muscle is NEEDED for survival. The body is all about survival.

So, if you want to create muscle, you have to lift weight repeatedly to the point that you can no longer lift the weight. The muscle actually tears. While you rest, the body builds muscle fibers to replace the damage that’s been done to the muscle, and the muscle gets bigger. As you can see, there is no fat involved in that formula.

The idea is to provide your body with the right “tools” (meaning food) that it needs to repair the damage done to a muscle by building muscle fiber. Layers of fat are burned off so that the fat is revealed, and weightlifting exercises cause the muscle to get bigger.

A low-carb diet is NOT the right diet for those who want to build muscle. A low-carb diet actually defeats the purpose. You need to eat a well-balanced diet that includes plenty of protein, but also carbs.

The numbers of calories, carbs, and fat grams that are in a food all are dependent upon the size of the portion of that food. For example, the label on a can of corn might tell you that there are 83 calories, 0.5 grams of fat, and 20.4 grams of carbohydrates in one serving. Those numbers are for one SERVING — not for the entire can.

If you look at the very top of the label, you’ll find the information about the serving size the numbers relate to. In the case of the canned corn, you’ll see that those 83 calories, 0.5 grams of fat, and 20.4 grams of carbohydrates are in a ½-cup serving. And those numbers apply only if you don’t add anything to the corn — like butter, for example.

Managing portion sizes is one of the most difficult parts of dieting for the purpose of losing weight. If you just put a serving of corn on your dinner plate without measuring it, it’s almost a certainty that the serving will NOT be ½ cup.

The same thing is true about serving sizes of meat. Most calorie, carb, and fat numbers are given for a four-ounce serving. A four-ounce serving of meat is probably about half the size that you’d guess it would be. And the calorie, carb, and fat numbers given are ONLY for the meat. They don’t include anything you might add to the meat during or after the cooking process.

Accurately counting calories, carbs, or fat grams can be done only if serving sizes are weighed and measured. You need a set of measuring cups, and you need a food scale. Measuring cups and a food scale are necessary tools for successful dieting to lose weight. You can’t guess; you MUST measure!

The number one New Year’s resolution made is “lose weight,” followed closely by “get into shape.” There’s no age limit on wanting to look good and feel good. Diet and exercise are both equal opportunity endeavors. Men and women of all ethnicities and those who are young, old, or somewhere in between are all welcome to join millions of others in eating less and exercising more in pursuit of looking better and being healthier.

The first step in a diet and exercise program is usually determining what KIND of diet to use. There are a lot of choices. You can choose a diet that requires you to count calories, carbohydrates, or fat grams. You can choose one that includes a number system that makes counting calories, carbohydrates, or fat grams easier or simpler. You can choose a diet where food is sent to you weekly or monthly already prepared and in the correct serving size.

Diets are different, but the commonality of going on a diet for the purpose of losing weight is that each and every individual should secure the blessing (and possibly the advice) of their personal physicians.

Changing your pattern of eating can be a bit traumatic for your digestive system. You want to make sure that your overall health is good enough for you to make a drastic change without upsetting your system something fierce! And be warned: dieting, even moderate and sensible dieting, can upset your system.

The human body requires certain vitamins, minerals, and trace elements to function correctly. Ingesting less food can create a deficit in the nutrients supplied to the body.

The idea of any good diet is to eat less but to eat a well-balanced diet that supplies the body with all of the “stuff” that it needs to function correctly.

There has been a lot of talk about green tea and how it can work for diets. Does green tea work to help you lose weight? Yes. As long as it is home brewed, unsweetened green tea. If you think that you can drink gallons of sweetened green tea and lose weight, think again.

Green tea has health benefits that are not found in black tea. In general, tea is a drink that is good for you. There are hundreds of different teas and many different flavored green teas. You can have green tea either caffeinated of de-caffeinated. This acts as a diuretic and will cleanse out the system. I drink green tea all day long and have managed to maintain my weight after losing the weight I wanted to lose while going back to my regular diet.

While water works well as a diuretic, green tea is more stimulating. Speaking from someone who has tried both, green tea works better when it comes to dropping the pounds than just drinking plain water. I drink de-caffeinated green tea that I brew myself. You do end up visiting the bathroom often when you drink tea or water all day long, but you also manage to cleanse out your system and keep off the weight.

You should look for green tea in bags or loose that you can brew at home. One of the nicest aspects about green tea is that you can drink it hot or cold. It is easy to make iced green tea even without a tea maker. You just need to have tea bags, a container and boiling water. Put the tea bags into the container, add the boiling water and let it brew for about five minutes. Then fill up the rest of the container with cold water and remove the tea bags. Refrigerate it and you will have iced tea that you can drink all day long.

You can find flavors of green tea in the grocery store that do not contain any calories. Natural green tea, however, works the best. You should not add sugar to the tea as this will defeat the purpose in drinking it.

If you do not like the taste of green tea unsweetened, then drink water. You will find that you take off your water weight, which is usually about five pounds, right away by drinking plenty of green tea or water throughout the day. Not only will it help you lose weight, it also keeps you filled up. You tend to want to eat less when you drink unsweetened drinks all day long. To the contrary, sweetened drinks, even those that are made with artificial sweeteners, make you want to eat more.

Stay away from canned green teas or those that are sold in the stores that are already brewed. They will not allow you to lose weight but can also contribute to you gaining weight. You can also make “sun tea” by putting tea bags into cold water and putting the container by the sunlight. It will brew naturally throughout the day and the taste is often better than if you make it with boiling water.

There are diet green teas that are on the market that are supposed to let you lose more weight. These diet teas are usually heavily concentrated in caffeine. You can get the best effects, without the jitters that you get from taking in too much caffeine, by drinking regular green tea.

If you drink caffeinated green tea, switch to decaffeinated green tea as the day wears on so that you will not be kept awake by the effects of the caffeine. You may want to switch your morning drink from coffee to green tea so that you can get a head start on the day. Although both contain caffeine, the caffeine in coffee is more potent than that in the green tea and less of a diuretic.

There are many diet pills on the market. They make all sorts of promises, most often being that you can eat whatever you want and lose weight magically by consuming these pills. Such diet pills have been sold for years and most of them, throughout the years, have been banned in the United States after people died or became seriously ill after taking them.

Often, diet pills are nothing more than stimulants. Over the counter diet pills are usually caffeine tablets. They can cause a rapid heart beat and even lead to more serious consequences for those who take them. There are the fat blocking diet pills that were very popular a few years ago. Most of them have now been banned. In fact, it does not usually take but a few years from the time that a diet pill is introduced as the wonder cure for obesity to the market and the time that it is banned because it causes liver disease or cancer.

You can lose weight without having to take any diet pills. I never took any diet pills when I wanted to lose weight because I knew people who did and had problems from taking them. Taking diet pills is similar to taking cocaine to lose weight. You are actually sacrificing your health in order to try to be thinner.

Why do you want to lose weight? There are two good reasons for losing weight. The first and foremost should be that it is healthier not to be overweight. Obesity can lead to many health problems, especially heart disease and diabetes. So it is naturally healthier to maintain a good weight.

The second reason is that you want to look good. But you also want to look healthy. You want to take off weight in a healthy way that will make your body feel stronger and healthier and also increase your self esteem. When you take off 10 pounds in 10 days, you will feel very much empowered and in control of your body, even if you have more weight to use.

But you never want to compromise your health if you want to lose weight. The truth of the matter is that there is no “magic pill” that can cause you to lose weight. Many of the diet pills do not work and are just a way to cheat you out of money. Many are simply caffeine tablets that will give you a very unpleasant sensation of a racing heart (imagine having 6 cups of coffee at once – that is how you feel when you take over the counter diet pills). Some of them are downright dangerous and are still being marketed online, although they are banned in the United States and in other countries.

Of course, some of the diet pills are just laxatives. While it is important to move your bowels daily in order to lose weight and keep it down, laxatives can overwork your digestive tract. If you need laxatives, then take them as directed. But never use laxatives or laxatives disguised as diet pills, to lose weight.

Those who market diet pills do so to a desperate public. People who are desperate to lose weight will want to believe that they can lose weight magically without having to sacrifice anything that they are currently doing.

The manufacturers of these pills will tell people anything that they want to hear, including that the pills are made from herbal ingredients and that the pharmaceutical companies have a big conspiracy going with the FDA to keep them out of the country. This is not true. If drugs are banned by the FDA, then that makes them pretty bad. Especially when you consider the side effects of many of the drugs approved by the FDA.

Save your money and your health and stay away from any pills that promise you results that seem too good to be true. Some advertisements for these pills promise to let you lose 10 pounds in 3 days. This is very unhealthy. You can lose 10 pounds in 10 days easily by following the healthy plans outlined in this book (which is a pound a day) but losing 10 pounds in 3 days would be a dramatic weight loss (if it worked) and unhealthy.

On top of that, chances are that you would not keep the weight off at all. If you follow the examples in this book, you will not only lose those 10 pounds that you want to lose, but you will keep them off.

Before you tackle the cure of diabetes, you must also be aware of what causes this disease. Diabetes is disease that affects the levels of insulin in a person’s body. There are basically three forms of this disease and these are type 2, type 2 and gestational diabetes. All these types of diabetes have something to do with the insulin levels and their functions in our bodies.

Types of Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is the disease in which the individual’s ability to produce insulin is affected by the auto immune system. The pancreatic beta cells that produce insulin are being regularly destroyed by the immune system thus making the production of insulin nil. In type 2 diabetes, the issue is about insulin resistance by some parts of the individual’s body. This is a very serious condition that can cause many complications if left unattended.

On the other hand, gestational diabetes occurs only with women and only during pregnancy. The cure for diabetes of this type is actually very simple. Since some hormones produced in a pregnant woman’s body promotes some tissues to resist insulin, the cure for diabetes in pregnant women is to give birth.

Potential Cures For Diabetes

Doctors have no actual “cure” for diabetes at the moments. What they do now to “cure” diabetes is to present alternatives to patients who suffer from this disease. Actual cure for diabetes is not available but the cure for the symptoms are readily available.

For Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes, most doctors either recommend watching the patient’s diet rigorously or in some severe cases, injecting insulin into the body during times when it becomes too low.

There has been thought of transplanting the defective beta cells that produce insulin in order to refresh the pancreatic cells. This method of cure for diabetes is still undergoing experimental tests and therefore is not suitable for human beings. So far, the research and studies have brought to light the potential problem of needing long maintenance medication in order to support the transplanted beta cells.

Although there is still a long way to go before any cure for diabetes can actually become a reality. It is a good idea to keep track of the progress that researchers and pharmaceutical companies are making towards finding a cure for diabetes. While waiting for this cure for diabetes, maintaining your health and diet are important in order not to complicate the disease.

healall.info Signs and symptoms ================== The classical triad of diabetes symptoms is polyuria, polydipsia and polyphagia, which are, respectively, frequent urination; increased thirst and consequent increased fluid intake; and increased appetite. Symptoms may develop quite rapidly (weeks or months) in type 1 diabetes, particularly in children. However, in type 2 diabetes the symptoms develop much more slowly and may be subtle or completely absent. Type 1 diabetes may also cause a rapid yet significant weight loss (despite normal or even increased eating) and irreducible fatigue. All of these symptoms except weight loss can also manifest in type 2 diabetes in patients whose diabetes is poorly controlled. When the glucose concentration in the blood is raised beyond the renal threshold, reabsorption of glucose in the proximal renal tubuli is incomplete, and part of the glucose remains in the urine (glycosuria). This increases the osmotic pressure of the urine and inhibits the reabsorption of water by the kidney, resulting in increased urine production (polyuria) and increased fluid loss. Lost blood volume will be replaced osmotically from water held in body cells, causing dehydration and increased thirst. Prolonged high blood glucose causes glucose absorption, which leads to changes in the shape of the lenses of the eyes, resulting in vision changes. Blurred vision is a common complaint leading to a diabetes diagnosis; type 1 should always be suspected in cases of …

You’ve likely heard of those supposedly “no-carb” diets that advise you to eat all of the bacon, eggs, and cheese you can hold, but not to take one bite of bread of potatoes and to avoid all carb-containing foods like fruits and vegetables. You’re told to eat meat — lots and lots of meat — all of the meat you can swallow while avoiding the salad and the potato served with the meat. Horsefeathers!

First, eating a “no-carb” diet is basically an impossible mission. There are some carbs in almost every food on earth. Granted, there are many more in some foods than in others, but there are still carbs.

Low-carb diets are difficult to stay with, and no-carb diets are impossible to stay with. The fact is that the ONLY diet that is going to produce the results you want is one that you can stick to forever and ever.

Weird one-food diets, fad diets, and crash diets don’t work. They’ve never worked, and they never will work. The human body will endure self-inflicted discomfort for only so long, and then a rebellion becomes a certainty. The body’s demand for nutrition will trump resolve.

It isn’t just food that the body needs. The body needs nutrition. It needs vitamins, minerals, and trace elements that are necessary for life to continue. A no-carb diet does not provide the needed nutrients, and so when you attempt a no-carb diet, you are doomed to failure from the beginning. The body needs — no, REQUIRES — a well-balanced diet.

Low-carb diets are popular. They are popular for a very good reason; they work. LOW-carb diets are healthy and sustainable. No-carb diets are neither!
